Panch Shila


Panch Shila of Badinath includes Garud Shila, Narad Shila, Narsingh Shila, Varah Shila and Markandeya Shila. These shilas are situated around the Tapt kund in the form of five blocks. Standing between Tapt kund and Narad kund is conically formed, Narad Shila. Near the Naradkund, the Varaha Shila has the shape of a boar. Varaha is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Markandeya, on the advice of Narad, left Mathura to meditate here in Badrivan and attained ultimate peace. Markendeya Shila is the stone on which the sage sat and meditated.

Panch Dhara


Panch Dhara is a group of five water streams that originate at Badrinath. They are: Prahlad Dhara, Kurma Dhara, Tapt Kund, Rishi Ganga and Alaknanda, collectively known as ‘Panch Dharas’ at Badrinath. Alaknanda is known as Vishnupadi Ganga. Rishi Ganga originates from the foot of Neelkanth Peak. The water of Kurma Dhara is extremely cold while Prahlad Dhara has lukewarm water.

Adi Kedareshwar


Temple Adi Kedareshwar Temple is situated between Taptkund and Shri Badrinath Temple. The importance of this temple is written in Skand Puran. In the month of Shravan special pujas are conducted here. The temple is dedicated to Lord Kedareshwar. It is believed to do darshan first at Adi Kedareshwar before Sri Badrinath Ji Darshan.

Bhramakapal Teerth


It is belived that the fifth head of Lord Brahma was cut down by Lord Shiva and it got stuck at his Trident. But once Lord Shiva came to Banks of Alaknanda at Sri Badrinath ji, this head got exfoliated and Lord Shiva became abstain from the crime of cutting the head of Bhrama Ji.

Brahma Kapal


Located just walkable distance from Badrinath temple on the bank of River Alakananda. It is believed that this place should be visited between Sunrise and Sunset. Here Pujas perform only for six months during Badrinath temple is open and during the winter season, there will not be any poojas in this temple. Brahma Kapal is famous for performing pujas for ancestors. It is a flat platform where prayers and rituals are performed by the devotees to pay homage and saddha to the departed souls of their ancestors. It is believed that if you visit this Kshetra, all the doshas of childbirth, marriage and Vaastu will be eliminated.

Leela Dhungi


Leela Dhungi, near Badrinath, is flanked by Nar Parvat on one side and Narayana on the other, where Lord Narayana resides. Its breathtaking landscape of towering snow peaks and countless waterfalls, blown away by strong winds before touching the ground, resembles Vaikuntha.Mythologically, it is believed that Lord Shiva and Parvati once found a beautiful child on a stone near the Alaknanda River in Kedarkhand. Shiva placed the child in a small temple, but upon returning, the doors wouldn’t open. Lord Badri Narayan then appeared, revealing his vast form and decreeing that he would reside in the mountains while Shiva and Parvati would dwell in Neelkanth (Kedarnath).Regarded as the birthplace of Badrinath Ji, Leela Dhungi is situated on the left of Sri Badrinath Temple near Bamni Village.

Charan Paduka


Charan Paduka has gained a lot of prominence as it is believed to be a holy rock in Hindu mythology. The rock at Charan Paduka has footprints imprinted on them and it is believed to be the footprints of Lord Vishnu. According to the story, Lord Vishnu stepped on this very boulder when he stepped down from Vaikunta, which is the celestial abode of the Lord, to the earth and his divine feet, created footprints on the rock and thus this auspicious place came to be known as Charan Paduka. Charan Paduka can be accessed by trekking from the left side of Badrinath temple. Once you start walking on the correct side, you will see a swift flight of stairs which will lead you up to the Charan Paduka rock. Though the trek route is only 3 kms, the stairs go upwards, making the climb a bit tough and one can take approximately 1.5 hours to reach Charan Paduka situated in the Narayan Parvat.

Mata Murti Temple


This temple is dedicated to the mother of Lord Vishnu. Owing to the blessings of almighty Lord, Mata gave birth to twins named Nar and Narayan. The temple is located at a distance of 3kms from Badrinath.

Vasudhara Falls

Mythologically, the Asht Vasus—Agni, Prithvi, Vayu, Antariksha, Aditya, Dyaus, Soma, and Nakstrani—meditated here, giving the falls its name. It is also said that the Pandavas, along with Draupadi, took this route to heaven, with Sahadev passing away at this spot.
